Police investigating suspicious house fire in Rocherlea

Police are investigating after a fire destroyed a house and caused $250,000 in damage in northern Tasmania early this morning. SEE THE PHOTOS >>

Police are investigating a suspicious house fire in Rocherlea early this morning.

About 3am Tasmania Police and the Tasmania Fire Service attended to reports of a house on fire on Ferntree Court.

Tasmania Fire Service extinguished the fire which caused around $250,000 damage.

The house was luckily unoccupied at the time of the fire.

A Tasmania Police spokesperson said initial investigations determined the fire to be suspicious, with further examination of the scene expected by the Northern Criminal Investigation Branch and Tasmania Fire Service fire scene examiners.

Anyone with information in relation to the fire or suspicious activity in the area at the time is asked to contact Northern CIB on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
