Water bombing aircraft attend bushfire at Molesworth

An advice message was place for a bushfire burning at Molesworth, with water bombing aircraft supporting firefighting efforts.

AN advice message is in place for Molesworth, Lyell Highway, Murphys Flat as a bushfire burns at Wyre Forest Rd, Molesworth.

The advice message was issued at 4.11pm on Saturday. The Tasmania Fire Service said there was no immediate threat, but bushfires under these conditions could be difficult to control.

The TFS said water bombing aircraft are supporting firefighting efforts, and are accessing water from the River Derwent near Murphys Flat. Watercraft in the area are requested to maintain a safe distance from aircraft.

TFS and Parks and Wildlife vehicles attending the blaze, which was first reported at 1.57pm, include two medium tankers and five light tankers

People in the area should keep up to date by listening to ABC Local Radio or look at the TFS website at www.fire.tas.gov.au
