Five new roads in Marrara will pay homage to five iconic Territorians after nine Darwin councillors threw their support behind the iniative.

At the first City of Darwin ordinary meeting of the year on Tuesday, nine councillors unanimously backed the move.

The subject site, formally known as the Malak and KOA Caravan Parks, was rezoned to a low-medium density residential and public open space in September 2021, with stage one of the subdivisions being approved in August 2022.

The five proposed road names – Kennons, Jeffs, Kemp, Boubaris and Ludwig – were selected by Marrara Gardens Pty Ltd and aim to remain consistent with the Marrara location and commemorate notable Territorians for their community contributions.
