Calum Von Moger raising awareness for men’s mental health on oneroundwars
A three-time Mr Universe champion and mega-social media influencer has revealed he is in for the fight of his life, all for the brother who lost his. Go inside his plans here.
A three-time Mr Universe champion and mega-social media influencer will jump into the ring to honour his late brother and raise awareness for men's mental health.
Calum Von Moger will step into the ring for just the second time on December 12, fighting as the main event on One Round Wars Sunshine Coast card.
Von Moger’s younger brother Eddie died in March 2023 after he mysteriously vanished in Anglesea Victoria.
“I’m fighting for my younger brother Eddie who passed away a couple of years ago,” Von Moger said.
“That’s what it’s all about, getting in the ring to raise awareness, depression, suicide, addiction and all those sort of things.”
Almost four years on from his own battles with mental health, which caused him to be rushed to hospital after jumping out of a two storey window in Geelong, the now 35-year-old said he was looking forward to getting back into the ring.
“I last fought on the last oneroundwars show on August 30 where I felt like a had purpose again and I haven’t felt that in a long time,” he said.
“Hopefully this brings more eyes to the cause of men’s mental health and suicide prevention along with working alongside Brave Brothers Charity.”
Von Moger, who is also known for his portrayal of Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 2018 film Bigger, will take on the founder of the Better Bloke Project Matty Rogers in the main event.
He said there had been a range of responses from his 3m Instagram following.
“The response has been half good and half bad,” Von Moger said.
“People close to me are happy to see me training again for something, there’s a lot of social media trolls too but I like them, they make me laugh.
“I’ve had heaps of people giving me advice but I’m not a fighter, I’m doing it for the men’s mental health, to help oneroundwars, brave brothers and help people with suicide prevention.”
Friday’s fights will include two 8-man tough mans and more than 30, 90 second contests.
OneRoundWars founder Ryan Brown said he was excited for the coming days.
“Majority of the people that take part have never fought before, they jump in the ring to tell their story, fight for themselves or someone special to them and no matter the result they walk away with their head held high,” he said.
“The feedback since our first fight has been really positive as I feel our shows bring the community together while also shining a major focus on men’s mental health and giving men a platform to speak up.”
