Music platform Spotify released its 2025 Wrapped reports today, revealing unique data about the music tastes of its Cairns users.

The annual report reveals insights to Spotify users worldwide about their listening habits, including their most-listened songs, albums, podcasts, artists and genres.

It tells users how many minutes they spent listening to music, where they fall on their favourite artists’ fan leaderboards, and even gives users a “listening age” according to their tastes.

This year Spotify released data specific to a number of Australian cities, including Cairns.

The number one song played by Cairns users was love ballad ‘Ordinary’ by U.S. singer Alex Warren, which was also the most-streamed song Australia-wide.

This was followed by ‘Sailor Song’ by Gigi Perez and ‘back to friends’ by sombr.

Cairns’ top artist was veteran pop star Taylor Swift, who also took out Australia’s most-streamed artist for the third year in a row.

Second place went to American country singer Morgan Wallen, followed by Canadian rapper Drake.

Alex Warren also had the most-streamed album in Cairns with You’ll Be Alright, Kid (Chapter 1), followed by the soundtrack of the KPop Demon Hunters Netflix film, and Morgan Wallen’s I’m The Problem.

Australia-wide, The Wiggles were the most-streamed local artist, with the KPop Demon Hunters album the most popular album.

‘Riptide’ by Vance Joy was the top local song, followed by 1986’s ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’ by Crowded House.

It was also a great year for Far North artists.

Alt-pop group Chase Atlantic, who hail from Cairns, had a whopping 1.8 billion streams from 70.6m listeners in 2025, spanning a total of 184 countries.

Singer-songwriter Emma Louise, who grew up in Cairns and released an album title DUMB with Flume this year, had 7.8m listeners in 2025, totalling 37.3m streams.

Cairns-based artist Greta Stanley also shared on social media that she had 1.5m listeners from 180 countries this year, totalling 9.6m streams.
