The Toyah Cordingley murder trial in the Cairns Supreme Court is expected to run for three weeks.

The DNA evidence in the trial has proved to be complex, and cross-examination of forensic expert Angelina Keller didn’t begin until late on Friday afternoon.

Before the prosecution finished questioning her, Crown Prosecutor Nathan Crane asked whether washing clothes could affect the collection and testing of DNA.

“Any sort of chemical used in the washing process may help remove DNA. But even after washing, you can still obtain DNA profiles,” Ms Keller said.

Rajwinder Singh, 41, accused of murdering Toyah Cordingley on Wangetti Beach, has pleaded not guilty to the murder on October 21, 2018.
