A mainstay of local theatre is heralding its much-anticipated return with a new show that promises to “embrace the outrageous” and offer plenty of eye candy.

Paramour Theatre is hosting a double-header cabaret show at the Brothers Leagues Club in Cairns on the Mother’s Day weekend after an 18-month hiatus.

It marks the next chapter in the theatre company’s colourful history, which started out in the Hilton Hotel basement about a decade ago before moving into a tucked-away venue in the casino and later striking out on their own with an inflatable circus tent and touring the state.

Director and host Wes Evans said the new adults-only show included plenty of new thrills, circus and comedy.

“It’s the first time that we’ve done a brand new show for about three years,” he said.

“We’ve always kind of mixed and matched but this one’s pretty much 95 per cent all new stuff – new dancers, new songs, new acts, all kinds of new stuff.”

Mr Evans, who plays the host “who knows no boundaries” Sylvester Valentine, said the company had acted on a common piece of feedback in the creation of their new show.

“We’ve had one main thing that we’ve always had people complain about and that was there wasn’t enough for the ladies,” he said.

“So we’ve made sure that there’s enough there for the ladies this time.

“We’ve got some good looking guys taking their shirts off for them and it’s not just all about the pretty girls anymore.”

However Mr Evans said the double-header show promised to offer something for all genders.

“We’ve never had a man walk away complaining, so it’s definitely fun for both men and women,” he said.

The shows, which play on Friday May 10 and Saturday May 11, are capped at about 400 guests each.

Tickets range between $69-$79 and can be bought at paramourcabaret.com
