The Northern Peninsula Area Regional Council has issued an urgent notice to residents across the region due to critically low water levels as a result of ongoing faults at the Jardine pumps.
Outages as a result of “extremely low water levels” began from 6pm on November 30 across the communities of New Mapoon, Seisia, Injinoo and Umagico, and between 10 and 11pm at Bamaga.
In a post shared to social media on Sunday, NPARC and operator Veolia apologised for the “ongoing frustration” with the current water outages.
Veolia advised the council at 2pm on Sunday that water would be turned on from 5pm and off at 10am in Injinoo.
Umagico will have water turned on from 6pm and off at 10am.
New Mapoon will have their water services turned on from 7pm and off from 10.30am, while Seisia will have water from 8pm and it will be turned off from 10.30am.
The most recent update for Bamaga said water would be turned on from 10am and off at 12am.
A total ban has been enacted on sprinklers, hand held watering devices, washing vehicles and driveway wash downs.
Council also urged residents to fill all water bottles, take quick showers and report leaks quickly.
It follows a previous water outage warning for the region on November 28 due to repairs at the Jardine Pumps.
