A Far North tourism destination in the midst of a $16m CBD upgrade is offering shoppers financial incentives to support local traders impacted by construction.

Mission Beach’s CBD, featuring more than 30 businesses, is undergoing construction works for Stage 2 of its CBD revitalisation project, set to “transform the streetscape of Village Green Precinct” and adjacent Porter Promenade as well upgrade ageing stormwater infrastructure.

To assist businesses who may be feeling a little dusty and dazzled from the jackhammers, Cassowary Coast Regional Council on Friday launched its Shop Local campaign.

Customers who spend $5 or more at participating stores will enter a draw to win $100, with two winners announced each week, until the end of June, 2025.
