A man has been transported to hospital after sustaining a spear injury to the leg at a private residence on Wednesday night.

Queensland Ambulance Services confirmed crews responded to reports of a man sustaining a spear wound to his thigh at a Port Douglas residence at 9.41pm.

The man was transported to Mossman Health Service in a stable condition, with the spear still in his leg.

“He will be transported from Mossman to Cairns hospital in order to take the spear out,” a QAS spokeswoman confirmed.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokesman confirmed one crew attended the scene at 10.20pm.

“One crew attended the scene and shortened a spear with our equipment. They were finished by 10.30pm,” the spokesman said.
