Major delays in traffic after fallen crane blocks Kamerunga Road

Emergency crews have responded to an accident on Kamerunga Road, involving a crane. Major traffic delays expected.

A major thoroughfare has reopened after emergency services responded to an incident near Caravonica where a crane tipped over and fell on its side.

A Queensland Police Services spokeswoman said a crane truck had swerved and fallen on its side on Kamerunga Road near the intersection with Fig Tree Road, affecting traffic to the Barron River Bridge on Tuesday morning.

Traffic control was on scene and drivers were advised of possible delays.

A Queensland Ambulance Services spokeswoman said they responded to the call at 11.51am.

Two patients were removed from the crane and one patient was taken to Cairns Hospital in a stable condition, she said.

No further patient details were available at the time.

Police said the road was reopened to traffic at 1.20pm.
