FNQ graduates achieve top marks in ATAR rankings

The wait is over for more than 28,000 Queensland, Year 12 graduates who have received their Australian Tertiary Admissions Ranks results this week.
This year, 36 graduates achieved the highest possible rank of 99.95 and 25 per cent received a 90.00 or above.
Minister for Education John-Paul Langbroek commended all graduates on their exceptional efforts over the past two years.
“Congratulations to all of our fantastic Year 12 students from the class of 2024 on receiving your ATAR results,” Minister Langbroek said.
“All of you have worked extremely hard, with the support of your teachers, family and friends.

Cairns State High School
Cairns State High School’s top performing student Bartholomew Cheng achieved an ATAR score of 99.85
His highest achieving subjects where Physics, Specialist mathematics and Mathematical Methods (98)
He hopes to study medicine at Australian National University.

St Monica’s Catholic College
Ava Barnes achieved the highest ATAR score with a total of 99.2.
Her highest achieving subjects were Mathematical Methods, Chemistry and Physics.
She hopes to study medicine at the University of Queensland, with dreams to become a doctor.
Gordonvale State High School
Two graduates topped the rankings for highest ATAR score at Gordonvale State High School.
Graduates Claire Smart and Isabella Westerhout tied for top marks with a score of 91.9.
Claire, who’s top subjects were Biology, Visual Arts and English, said she wanted to study a Bachelor of Medicine at James Cook University.
Isabella, whose top marks were Biology, English, and Mathematical Methods said she wanted to study a Bachelor of Architecture at the University of Melbourne.
Trinity Anglican School
Trinity Anglican School dux Cara Elliott was named Trinity Anglican School’s highest ATAR achiever with a near perfect score of 99.90.
Cara focused on STEM subjects, achieving her highest results in English, Specialist maths, Physics, Mathematical Methods, Engineering and Chemistry.
She hopes to study medicine at either James Cook University or the University of Queensland.
All TAS graduates achieved an ATAR score.
A fifth of the cohort got a score of 98 or above.
St Augustine’s College
Yuta Ma has been named as St Augustine’s College’s highest ATAR scorer, achieving a result of 99.85.
He is the youngest of three brothers, all of whom have received ATAR scores above 99.
Mr Ma’s best subjects were Mathametical Methods and Physics.
He hopes to study Medicine at Monash University.
St Andrew’s Catholic College
Ryder Garvey achieved St Andrews top ATAR score at 99.35
His highest achieving subjects were Chemistry, English, mathematics Methods, Specialist mathematics, Physics
He hopes to study engineering at the University of New South Wales.
Atherton State High School
Benedict ‘Ben’ Howard was named Atherton State High School’s top ATAR achiever with a score of 99.45.
His received his highest marks for Mathematical Methods, Physics, Specialist maths and Chemistry, and Literature
Ben has applied for Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honors) majoring in Physics at UQ and QUT, and Bachelor of Engineering (Honors) / Biotechnology at UQ.
Mossman State High School
Niamh Zillfleisch was named Mossman State High School’s top ATAR achiever with a score of 96.05.
Niamh has also been awarded the Tuckwell Scholarship to study at the Australian National University in Canberra in 2025 to study a Bachelor of Science/ Bachelor of Arts.
She received top marks in for four of her five subjects, and a B for Mathematical Methods overall.
English was her strongest subject with 98 out of 100.
Malanda State High School
Jessica Neal was named Malanda State High School’s top ATAR achiever with a score of 99.1.
She will study astrophysics at the Australian National University in Canberra.
Her highest achieving subjects were Mathematical Methods, Physics, Chemistry and Specialist Mathematics.
