Dancescapes studio set to present Stomp: A Jungle Adventure at CPAC

More than two decades of dance tradition culminates in a pounding jungle adventure as Dancescapes studio prepares to unleash wild choreography this weekend.

A Cairns dance studio will close the curtains on its 2025 performing year with a foot-stomping show featuring an unforgettable adventure of wonder, rhythm and “wild” fun.

Dancescapes studio will present STOMP: A Jungle Adventure at Cairns Performing Arts Centre in two back-to-back shows on Saturday.

The Two-and-a-half hour show will follow an eager team of explorers and fearless rangers as they journey deep into the wild, meeting cheeky monkeys, zany zebras, graceful giraffes, and the mighty lion.

Founder June Vale said the production took months to pull together but was confident audiences would be impressed by the showcases intricate design, dancing and story.

“We started in term three, and introduced the fact that we’re doing a show about a jungle so we have 12 characters of the jungle, there’s rangers and animals and tourists and monkeys.

“Between the diversity of music and staging, and talent people will love it.

“People come up and say, “Oh, my God, it was like a rave!” because the music is just pounding, it’s just so different and fun.”

A small team of volunteers helped produce dozens of intricate costumes and set to transform the Cairns Performance Art Centre into the heart of the Congo.

The showcase marks the groups 24 annual concert, with the matriarch handing the choreography reigns to daughter and fellow dance teacher Kimberly.

Julie said after travelling the world as a professional dancer and getting experience further south her daughter ensured the production stayed contemporary, exciting and full of life.

“In a regional area, you can get stuck doing the same things unless you start travelling and going up and down,” she said.

“That’s what she does, she teaches everything.

“If you like music, if you love dance and performances come down.”

The two shows on Saturday begin at 1pm and 7pm with tickets available via ticketlink.
