Two young Cairns sisters have walked away from a national dance competition with three championships after stunning the judges with their acrobatic performances.
Sisters Milla and Zahlee Lucht, aged 11 and 9, won the junior duo national championship at Get The Beat finals on the Sunshine Coast in September with an acrobatic duo performance.
The June Vale Dancescapes dancers also both won their respective acrobatic solo competitions, coming away with three national championships.
Teacher Kimberley Vale said the club was “crazily proud”.
“They are both so extraordinary for their age, doing things senior dancers should be doing,” she said.
“They are great representatives for Dancescapes and are such good role models for the younger dancers.”
The girls, who have been dancing since they were three, first competed at the regional competition in Mackay to qualify for nationals.
The girls’ mum Jayde Lucht said they spend most weeknights at Dancescapes and hired the studio on weekends for extra practice in the lead-up to the championships.
Ms Lucht said the girls were “stoked” with their wins.
“It’s always a big challenge to go up against girls from, say Sydney, who do full-time dance training or do homeschool,” Ms Lucht said.
“Up here in Cairns, you don’t always have the same access to some of the workshops or opportunities that some of the kids down south do, sit was pretty exciting to come away with a win.
“I’m very proud.”
