THE CHARM of Cairns Festival was summed up nicely at the Carnival on Collins event at Tanks Arts Centre on Sunday.
Families embraced the sunny weather and rolled up to Collins Avenue in the hundreds to enjoy everything the event had to offer, including a boutique market, live music, arts and crafts and food stalls.
But the bright colours and smooth aromas of the festival also drew in intrepid tourists like bees to honey.
George Thomas and Ffion Dahm have travelled from a small village in central Wales and couldn’t help a visit to the event before setting off for the rest of the country.
“We’re loving it here,” Mr Thomas said.
“We’re just about to get a camper van and head down the east coast.”
The day was also an opportunity for dads to spend some quality time with their kids for Father’s Day.
Julian Bryant attended with his three boys Phoenix, Raven and Ash.
“We’re having lots of fun,” Mr Bryant said.
