Cairns police charge man after carjacking on Pease, Anderson streets
A man has been charged after he allegedly jumped into the back seat of a woman’s car as she was stopped during peak hour traffic.

A man has been charged after he allegedly jumped into the back seat of a woman’s car as she was stopped during peak hour traffic.
Police allege a woman, 31, driving a Mazda sedan was stopped at traffic lights on Pease Street about 4pm Friday when a man hopped into the back seat, demanding she drive.
The man then exited the car and fled at the intersection of Anderson and Hill streets.
The woman, who was not physically injured, drove to a safe place and called police.
Tactical Crime Squad officers later went to a Hill St house and found the man, 40, taking him into custody.
He has been charged with unlawful entry of a motor vehicle and possession of dangerous drugs.
The man is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on Friday.
