Alleged plant thief caught on video at Trinity Beach, Cairns wearing bucket hat and hi-vis

A man wearing bright orange hi-vis gear and a distinctive bucket hat has been caught on video allegedly stealing plants on the northern beaches.

A man has allegedly stolen plants from a home wearing hi-vis and a bucket hat before driving off after the owner called out to him.

Police are asking for help to identify the man in the video wanted for questioning after he allegedly stole plants from the yard of a Trinity Beach road address on Saturday, October 15 around 6am.

The owner of the property called out to the man but he allegedly put the plant in his boot and drove away.

In the video the man can be seen climbing through a garden behind some wheelie bins and taking the plants to his car.

Police are asking for anyone to come forward who has any information.
