The aftershocks of a 5.7 magnitude earthquake off Timor-Leste were felt in Darwin overnight, with more than 120 ‘felt’ reports already submitted.
On Tuesday night in the Banda Sea, a hefty 5.7 quake – at a depth of 128 km – rocked the so-called Banda Arc about 7.15pm local time.
The epicentre of the quake occurred less than 400 km from Dili, the capital of Timor-Leste.
As of 8am ACST, Geoscience Australia had received 123 ‘felt reports’ pertaining to the quake.
The quake continues a shaky week for the Territory, with a 2.7 magnitude earthquake having rumbled about 40 km east of Batchelor on Monday.
Last Thursday, a 2.6 magnitude earthquake was recorded south west of Tennant Creek at a depth of 10 km.
