‘We fell for our bridesmaid at our wedding – now we’re a throuple’

A couple who both fell in love with their best friend, the maid of honour in their wedding, said their unusual relationship has draw backs.

UK poll reveals 58 per cent of scientists believe sex is binary

A married couple who fell in love with their maid of honour are now living with her as a throuple — and they’re happier than ever.

Katie and Ness, from the US state of Massachusetts, tied the knot back in 2021 with their friend Kaylie serving as chief bridesmaid in the ceremony.

The newlyweds had worked with Kaylie at a daycare centre for years, but after their wedding, she became an indispensable part of their life.

What it's like to be in a throuple

“I was attracted to Kaylie right off the back,” Ness told the YouTube series Love Don’t Judge.

While Katie admitted: “Every time Kaylie walked in, I would get nervous and make sure I look okay.”

But it wasn’t until she jetted off to Disney World with the couple, along with Ness’ lifelong friend Kristina, in November 2022 that things took an unexpected turn.

“It felt more intimate — it felt more romantic,” Ness said.

“We just kept flirting with one another and it just kept going,” Katie added.

Ness then admitted her feelings for Kaylie to her wife, who admitted she too felt similarly.

When the married lovers revealed their desires to Kaylie, said also said she was feeling the same romantic connection.

“It was very natural for us because we already had that dynamic of the three of us always being together,” Kaylie shared.

“I think our relationship works because we have the foundation of being best friends.”

The threesome has since started documenting their unorthodox relationship under the handle @traveling _throuple.

Just last week, the lovebirds ventured back to Disney World, sharing several videos from the theme park with their 12,000 fans.

But while the ladies have many admirers, they’ve also been blasted by haters who chastise them for their unconventional lifestyle.

The throuple, who has been labelled “disgusting” with one writing beneath the Love Don’t Judge video: “America is doomed.”

“Aaannnnd like 99 per cent of all the others that try this they will all end broken,” a second sniped.

Ness, Katie and Kaylie claim that respective family members are even uncomfortable with the romance, admitting confusion about the fact that there are “two who are married and one who isn’t.”

However, that is soon set to change, with Ness recently proposing to Kaylee on a trip to Scotland, asking whether she’d join her and Katie in a three-way union.

The live-in lovers haven’t dished on any wedding plans but are looking forward to a lifetime of happiness together.

“We’re looking to buy a house and plant our roots,” Kaylee declared. “And starting a family once we plant those roots.”

Issues with travelling as a throuple

The trio have also spoken out recently about the issues that arise travelling as a throuple, because most rooms are set up to accommodate a pair.

“It can be difficult trying to find places that have a king-size bed to accommodate the three of us,” Ness told Xtra Magazine.

Since there are three of them, they split up the responsibilities of scouring Air BnB and hotel listings for suitable accommodation – and have been able to have a string of successful holidays.

“Last year we did eight countries and four vacations. We do a lot of road trips, and we do a lot of camping, and we love to go to Disney,” she said.

But they still hit a few snags travelling as a threesome, revealing a recent Italian cruise didn’t go the way they’d hoped.

“We had a balcony suite for two people, and then we booked an interior room for Kaylie, which was kind of a luggage room, a walk-in closet where we could get ready,” Katie said.

“But they were on opposite sides of the ship,” says Ness, “so it wasn’t very convenient. We had to walk down there every morning in our pyjamas.”
