Warmer days ahead as leaves settle from wild weekend weather

After a cold, wet and windy weekend, the state can look forward to more settled weather in the days ahead.

Kids like 18-month-old Abigale Zhao can enjoy warmer Autumn days now the weekend’s high winds and waves have subsided.

Leaves are now lying heaped on the ground after flying off trees in 90km/h gusts on Saturday.

While cloudy and cold conditions remained on Sunday with a top of only 13C in Hobart, Tasmania has a favourably mild and mostly dry outlook for the week, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

Hobart is expected to reach 16C on Monday with partly cloudy conditions and light westerly winds before climbing to 17C on Tuesday, 18C on Wednesday and peaking for the week at 19C on Thursday.

Saturday’s heavy rain has subsided and is expected to hold off for most of the state until predicted showers arrive on Thursday.

Launceston, St Helens and Swansea will also climb over the coming days to reach 19C with showers on Thursday.

Strahan and Devonport will reach a high for the week of 18C on Thursday, with Strahan experiencing additional on Monday and Tuesday.
