Tourism Tasmania marketing manager Kathryn McCann set to join the Federal Group

THE Federal Group has today announced it has secured the services of Tourism Tasmania's highly regarded marketing manager Kathryn McCann.

IN a major industry coup, tourism giant the Federal Group today announced it had secured the services of Tourism Tasmania's highly regarded marketing manager Kathryn McCann.

Fresh from being named the Minister's Young Achiever at this month's annual tourism awards, Ms McCann will take up the role of Wrest Point sales and marketing manager from February.

Federal Group director of corporate affairs Daniel Hanna said he was delighted to welcome Ms McCann to the team, describing her as an outstanding person with the skills and qualities the Federal Group was looking for.

"Kath has demonstrated an outstanding capacity for communication and innovation; as evidenced by her receiving the Minister's award for Contribution to the Industry by a young person at the 2013 Tasmanian Tourism Awards," Mr Hanna said.

"This appointment also means that one of the best and brightest in the state will remain in Tasmania and continue to make a valuable contribution to the Tasmanian tourism industry."

Tourism Tasmania chief John Fitzgerald thanked Ms McCann for her "exceptional' service and wished her well in her new role, saying such opportunities in the industry did not come up very often.

"While it does not please me to see our award-winning marketer pack her well-equipped toolkit of skills, I have such a genuine regard for her drive and passion that I knew we were not going to keep her forever," Mr Fitzgerald said.

"It is fantastic for Kath that she can return to the private sector in a new and challenging role, and stay in the state she loves.

"I would like to acknowledge the passion and energy she has put into her work on behalf of the entire tourism industry."

Mr Fitzgerald said the position of marketing director would be advertised as soon as practical.
