This cake fail is so bad it has to be seen to be believed

This is what happens when you take instructions a little too literally.

Easy macadamia sponge cake

When getting a custom-made birthday cake, we'll send specific instructions to the bakery about how we'd like it to look and what we want it to say.

What we don't expect, though, is for those instructions to end up written on the actual cake.

But apparently, common sense isn't all that common, as one birthday girl recently found out...

Taking to TikTok, the woman shared the disastrous mistake a cake decorator made when frosting her personalised cake.

"My mouth dropped"

The 22-year-old began the clip by sharing a photo of the inspo picture for the cake she wanted, which was vanilla-frosted with black cursive writing in the middle.

"My inspo pic. I asked for the writing to be small, cursive, and in the middle of the cake," she wrote over the video.

She then cut to a photo of the cake she received—one with similar-coloured frosting and lettering but with a very different message than what she instructed.

It literally read: "Aries Baby (small cursive, middle of cake)."

She captioned the clip: "WTF is this? When I tell you, my mouth dropped when I got in the car and opened up the cake."

"Tell me you didn't pay for this"

Commenters were equally as stunned that someone could be so naive.

"I NEED to know what goes through people's heads while they are actively piping on what is clearly a note," one wrote. "Are they really just like, 'Yep, perfect, no concerns whatsoever!'"

"Please tell me you didn't pay for this," another insisted.

"LMAOOOOOO, this is my worst fear!" shared one viewer.

Others saw the lighthearted side of it, with one man writing: "This is better than getting what you originally wanted! You can look back at it anytime and just laugh."

In a follow-up clip, the woman shared an update, saying she went back and asked the bakery to redo it, and they willingly obliged.

The new cake looks much closer to the original inspiration photo, and only the words 'Aries Baby' are written on top.

"It still wasn't small or in cursive, but she did the best she could," she wrote in the caption.
