The LG Styler is the luxe appliance that will cut your laundry time in half

This mum-of-two claims it's a game-changer for school uniforms.

Lush Snow Fairy laundry hack

It’s the beginning of another school term and parents of school-age children are settling into the mundane routine of packing lunch boxes, contacting more books, and the never-ending cycle of washing uniforms.

Yes, they're jobs we all hate to do when school is back even though we complained all the way through the summer holidays that the break is always FARRR TOOO LOOOONG!

But what if I told you that the time spent on at least one of those parenting chores could be halved, making your life a whole lot easier during the school term?

I first heard about the LG Styler Steam Clothing Care System while mindlessly scrolling TikTok one night. This magic machine is like an at-home dry cleaner. It promises to leave your clothing smelling fresh, remove germs, and best of all... it promises to remove wrinkles!

People on the web have been claiming it's a game changer and of course I needed to try it.

The LG Styler will cut laundry time in half

The LG Styler Steam Clothing Care System retails at $2,899 so let’s be VERY clear here - It’s an investment.

To put it simply, it's a luxe home appliance that is clearly marketed to those who:

a) Hate doing laundry

b) Hate germs

According to the website product description, it’s the perfect home appliance for busy parents who are looking for a “fast and convenient way to freshen up school uniforms” or even freshen up and sanitise plush toys sitting around the house.

It claims to also remove majority of wrinkles in clothing with the thanks to steaming element in the unit and can also eliminate odours and common allergens such as dust and bacteria.

So basically, you can tell your dry cleaner you won't be seeing them as often as you have been in the past.

How the LG Styler works

When the unit was delivered to my house, I was blown away with the size of it. This guy is BIG. Like the size of a standing single-door freezer big. It's an appliance that screams "I'm here to stay" the moment you lay eyes on it. Even the delivery driver was jealous: "Oh you won't have to ever iron again!" he cheered for me.

I was excited.

Setting up the appliance is pretty easy once you find a spot for it in your home. Did I mention it is big?! All you need is a power point to plug into and a flat surface.

This unit is a three-garment system, so you can easily freshen up three items at once - but that's not to say you're limited to that amount in a cycle.

The appliance is equipped with oscillating hangers to remove wrinkles and reduce the likelihood of fabric shrinkage. The door of the unit has a spot for pants to be neatly pressed, and there is also a shelf below for anything that needs to be laid flat- or even those toys I was talking about earlier.

Now it's time to get technical. There are four settings you can choose from:

REFRESH - This is the fastest cycle that is good to simply freshen up an item that doesn't need washing or ironing.

SPECIAL CARE - For items such as suits, coats, knitted items and sports wear.

SANITARY - For items and garments that need a good sanitise. While some people online swear by this mode for workwear after being in a germy office all day or after catching public transport, others use it for bedding and items that might typically gather dust. It's the mode that will remove bacteria from clothing and fabrics.

GENTLE DRY - This setting is for items that need extra drying like snow gear and raincoats. I also like this mode for items I need to dry without shrinkage or creases.

It's also worth noting that the appliance boasts Smart Control: ThinQ® technology that allows you to start the machine remotely and monitor the progress of a cycle.

Is the LG styler worth the $2000+ investment?

I want to be completely transparent with you here - if you are looking at this unit because you want to toss out the iron and ironing board completely, it's not an appliance for you.

Despite the many settings I tried, I wasn’t ever able to completely eliminate wrinkles from my hubby’s business shirts, school uniforms or even everyday cotton t-shirts. Was there a difference? Maybe? Perhaps a slight improvement but an iron is definitely still needed if you like your garments crisp.

But if you have items you’ve worn once (ie: uniforms or a dress) and that don’t really require a complete wash but rather just a little ‘freshen up’ to be worn again soon, then the unit is great!

I personally found that I was now no longer washing uniforms simply because they had been worn once or twice already that week. A little round in a cycle under 30-minutes and the items were good as new for the next day. Relying on it meant my laundry time was cut in half - what's not to love about that?

Uniforms and wrinkled garments aside, parents of little ones will also find this appliance a game-changer when they have a child who is sick at home and are concerned about it being passed on to other members of the family through plush toys. Yes, we're talking about those infectious nasties like Hand Foot and Mouth, School Sores, or even the winter sniffles. The sanitary cycle would be your best friend in times like this.

So if you're looking to up your game when it comes to doing laundry, this appliance is a handy add-on to what you normally rely on. And if you have the room (and money) it's definitely one to consider adding into your home.
