Cafe Nom Nom’s specialty waffles are made fresh with their own specialised bubble waffle machine. There is a strong focus on sweet toppings, however, there are also several savoury waffles available. The Brekkie Waffle is topped with banana, bacon, egg and maple syrup ($16). But by far the most popular is the Chocolate Devil ($14). This ultimate indulgence includes a bed of chocolate waffles topped with chocolate Pocky, chocolate ice cream, Maltesers, Tim Tams, M & Ms, marshmallows and chocolate topping.

Daniel from Waffle On spent months researching waffles before settling on the perfect Belgian recipe. The dough is yeast risen and made fresh daily. There are sweet and savoury options, but the most popular version is the Benedict. It includes poached eggs, Scottsdale ham and hollandaise sauce. The sweet options range in price from $11-$16 and the savoury from $16-$18. Gluten-free options are also available.

With six flavours on offer — chocolate, berry, hazelnut, lemon curd, banana caramel and the breakfast waffle — as well as numerous optional extras, you will be spoiled for choice.

Renowned for its menu which caters largely for vegetarians and allergy battlers, Straight Up’s orange and vanilla waffles are also vegan-friendly. Served with coconut berry ice cream, blueberries and a chocolate crumb, the Belgian breakfast is finished with rose petals ($16.50).

The beachside eatery in Lower Sandy Bay (formerly Prossers) serves a short stack of Belgian waffles, made in-house with pearl sugar from Belgium. The stack is served with lashings of chocolate ganache, banana and ice cream for $15, or just $6 for the ice cream only option.
