When you’ve missed brekkie, it’s too early for lunch but you need something yummy to get you through the day, the only thing to do is go out for brunch. It’s also ideal for catching up with friends or a great way to spend a lazy weekend. These five great brunch spots have you covered.

When you brunch at Abundance, not only can you sit back with a coffee and a bite to eat, you can also wander through an adjoining homewares store. Cafe co-founders Hannah Lawson and Adrian Collinson’s philosophy combines clean eating with quality ingredients best described as “comfort food dressed up”. Here you can kick back with a vegan zucchini waffle for $20.50, or Tasmanian marinated mushrooms with avocado, walnuts, goats feta and fresh greens on locally baked ciabatta for $19.50.

Rendezvous Lounge Cafe

This family-friendly eatery has a large menu catering to all tastes with regularly changing specials, all in the bustling atmosphere of Salamanca Square. The all-day breakfast menu features breakfast favourites such as crepes and eggs, or the sweet potato, bacon and corn fritters with avocado salsa yoghurt, sour cream and rocket ($14.80).

With a breakfast menu going right through to 3pm, you are sure to find something to get you through the mid-morning slump at Lenah Valley’s cosy and welcoming cafe. Try the baked banana loaf with maple-glazed pecans and caramel-infused cream cheese ($9.90), or something from the toasted bread menu for less than $11.

This super popular South Hobart cafe is buzzing with people from the breakfast crowd right through to those looking for an afternoon pick-me-up. To get you going mid-morning, try the slow-cooked habanero beef brisket omelette, plated with whipped feta and a sweet chilli, crispy shallot and pickled onion salad and toasted sourdough bread ($18).
