Hotel SOHO
124 Davey St, Hobart
Hotel Soho’s schnitzels come in three sizes, small ($10), large ($24) and Parmageddon ($55), a triple stack of parmigiana style schnitzels. The chicken comes fresh from a local butcher and once fried, is served with steak fries, salad and Soho’s own salad dressing. On Mondays and Wednesdays, Soho does schnitzels for $5 from 5pm, increasing by $1 each hour until 10pm. The pub has no less than seven parmigiana-style toppings available on the menu.
Waggon & Horses
327 Argyle St, Hobart
As fresh as it gets, the chicken for the Waggon & Horses Chicken Schnitzel is cut by the in-house butcher. The real chicken breast is then crumbed and fried in fresh oil. The huge schnitzels are great value for only $12 and are served with chips and salad or veggies. For the finishing flavour touch, you can choose between traditional, pepper or mushroom gravy.
The Brunswick Hotel
67 Liverpool St, Hobart
When it comes to schnitzels the Brunswick has something for everyone from the traditional free roaming chicken schnitzel, and the Bruny Island Wallaby schnitzel to the delicious meat-free option of the Tasmanian Swiss brown mushroom. The schnitzel bases are Tasmanian sourced and are served with thick ‘bad boy’ chips, a mesclun salad and slaw for $25.
The Cascade Hotel
22 Cascade Rd, South Hobart
The Cascade Hotel has several delicious schnitzel options on offer from the mini beef schnitzel and Sicey’s super schnitzel to the classic tantalising chicken schnitzel. The substantial meal ($25.50 large, $18 small) includes free-range chicken crumbed or pan fried (gluten free), chips and salad or vegetables and your choice of sauce. The sauces available include, mushroom, pepper, red wine jus, diane and garlic sauce.
Shamrock Hotel
195 Liverpool St, Hobart
The half-breast chicken for the Shamrock Hotel’s schnitzel is sourced from local butcher Trendy Cut Meats. Perfectly moist, the chicken is served with chips and salad or vegetables. Top the dish off with your choice of complementary house-made sauces. Choose from traditional, pepper or mushroom gravy or diane sauce. The great-value dish is only $12.
