FLYING over the Tasman Peninsula in a doorless helicopter is an experience Perth photographer Jarrad Seng will never forget.
National Geographic Australia and New Zealand on Thursday launched a new digital content series featuring images from across the state.
In the first part of the series, Mr Seng, of reality TV series Survivor fame, travelled around Tasmania to capture the unique natural beauty of the state using only a specialist camera phone.
Mr Seng said working with National Geographic had given him an opportunity to discover the wildest places in Tasmania.
“Tasmania possesses a unique and rugged beauty that has always drawn me in,” he said.
“Flying around the Tasman Peninsula by chopper was a huge highlight of the trip. We flew at sunrise with the doors off — talking about immersing yourself in the landscape.”
He said his experience showed amazing photos could be captured without having to lug around a 20kg camera bag.
“Ninety per cent of the work is just putting in the effort to get out there in the wilderness and into these amazing locations — the rest is easy,” he said.
