'So much pain': Sam Frost shares 'difficult' baby update

The Aussie star was left 'sobbing' after an experience that she said was 'harder than labour.'

Sam Frost makes candid pregnancy confession

Sam Frost has shared an emotional update about motherhood, two months after the birth of her son, Ted.

The former Home and Away star and ex-Bachelorette, 34, welcomed her son with fiancé Jordie Hansen in March and has now shared that the biggest challenge so far has been breastfeeding.

She recently opened up about her feeding journey in an Instagram Q&A and was overwhelmed with the response she received so was driven to write an article about the topic on her blog, Believe by Sam Frost.

In an Instagram Story, she wrote, "After mentioning that I had a lot of difficulties breastfeeding, I was inundated with messages from women who had a similar experience, very thankful I shared."

Then she shared a link to the blog, titled: "Our feeding journey."

'I found it really difficult emotionally, mentally and physically'

"When asked what the most difficult part about being a new mum was? I replied. Breastfeeding," Frost began the heartfelt blog post.

She continued: "I found it really difficult emotionally, mentally and physically...when Teddy was born, he latched on perfectly."

"I remember looking at him thinking how amazing this experience is, how primal and special breastfeeding your newborn is. After a few days, my nipples were chapped, raw and bleeding. I was in so much pain. A girlfriend had said she found breastfeeding harder than labour - I had an epidural, so I wholeheartedly agreed."

She then revealed that she was told to just "push through it", but the pain kept getting worse.

"Every feed, I was crying... not just cute little tears, I was sobbing. Little Ted started getting distressed and frustrated, he would cry too," she said.

She didn't know whether or not it was because he wasn't getting enough milk or whether it was because he was picking up on her energy, but either way, she decided then that he needed to go on the bottle.

After she got a breast pump and formula, she said that "an immediate weight lifted off my chest," and "ever since we have been expressing what we can and formula feeding the rest."

'We are all trying our best'

Frost explained that she wanted to share her story to help other women feel less alone, but the "judgement and pressure" from others almost stopped her from doing so.

She emphasised the importance of breaking down the facade that motherhood is all sunshine and rainbows. This illusion, fuelled by social media, can make mothers "feel like failures," according to Frost.

"We all make mistakes. We all have days where we probably could have handled a situation better. But we are all trying our best," she concluded. "What works for one person, may not work for you. Every pregnancy is different, every birth is different, every baby is different. Do whatever works for you and your family. And most importantly, please remember... you are never alone."

In an era where picture-perfect depictions of motherhood dominate social media, especially among celebrities and influencers, Frost's vulnerability offers a refreshing perspective, reminding her fans that it's okay to talk about and seek support for whatever motherhood throws at you.
