Woman uninvited from friend's wedding for pettiest reason after spending $2150

"I got dumped for breaking an unspoken hens night rule," the Queensland woman explained in the drama-filled storytime video on TikTok.

How I was uninvited from a wedding

Amy Dickinson hadn't been to a hens party before.

So when the first of her friends in her group got engaged, she was excited about the girls' weekend away they had planned.

The Queensland woman, 30, headed to Hamilton Island with the group of girls and splurged over $1000 on flights and a hotel.

However in the aftermath of the weekend, she was banned from attending the destination wedding, something she had forked out another $1,150 for.

So, what happened on the trip that was bad enough to get uninvited?

According to Amy, the bride-to-be was furious that she uploaded a picture to Instagram from the trip before she did.

A weird 'phone ban' and an overbearing mum

Sharing the bizarre story TikTok, Amy said the whole trip was spent "walking on eggshells" from the start, as the "bridezilla" was on a "weird power trip" the whole time.

However, things really escalated on the last night, when the bride decided to put a "phone ban" in place during dinner.

Apparently, that meant the girls could take photos, but not spend any time on their phones editing them while at the table.

At one point in the night, one of the girls started taking photos of Amy and the bride and the bride started "losing it."

"She's like, 'Stop taking photos of me, I'm going to look gross anyway' and the poor girl taking the photos ran to the bathroom crying and I had to console her," she explained.

"When we got back to the table, no one would talk to us. It was like we had been completely exiled from the group. Then the bride started going on about how she was so embarrassed that we had to leave dinner immediately.

"We called two cabs to go somewhere else — me and my friend who I comforted in the bathroom in one car and the rest of the party got in the other.

"We agreed to meet at this specific spot in town but when our cab rocked up, we realised the other cab wasn’t there and the girls were nowhere to be found. We started calling them but no one picked up their phones."

Eventually, she and her friend found the rest of the group at another restaurant and decided to go in, thinking everyone may have simmered down by then.

Ah, how wrong was she...

"All of a sudden, this fight is about Instagram?"

Amy continued, "I pulled up a seat next to the bride... I started to publicly apologise in front of the group. I was like, 'Look babe if you think I was choosing my other friend over you when I went to the bathroom to console her that’s not what was happening. I just wanted to make sure she was okay'."

But it turns out the bride was actually upset over something entirely different.

"The [bride's mum] stands up and says, 'I'll handle this!'

"She leans across the table and she's pointing at me and was like, "How dare you upload a photo before my daughter at her hens party!"

This revelation left Amy speechless.

"I was like, 'What? All of a sudden, this fight is about Instagram?" she says.

"I didn’t understand that this was a protocol. If it were, she should have said so and I wouldn’t have uploaded before her. But the photo I had uploaded had nothing to do with the hen’s party itself, it was just a beautiful scenic shot."

The phone call a few days later

The next morning, Amy attempted to apologise to the bride.

"She took me out to the balcony where she started screaming at me, saying 'I shouldn't have to treat you like a dog! I shouldn’t have to say 'do this, do that', you should already know that uploading a photo before me is not okay'," she recalled.

"I was shocked and appalled by her behaviour. Never in my life has somebody spoken to me like that. It was vile."

Then after returning home from the "hens party from hell", she received a call from the bride letting her know that she "didn't feel comfortable" having Amy at her wedding.

"Keep in mind, this girl knew that I had booked my flights. Not only that, I booked my first-ever business class flight and I paid for my accommodation and bought a dress for $650 and accommodation for $500," she explained.

After she was uninvited, she said to the bride, "Thank god. Being stranded on yet another island with you is my idea of hell. Of course, I’m not going to your wedding, I couldn’t think of anything worse'," and she hung up and blocked the bride.

"I never spoke to her again."

Despite the drama unfolding a few years ago, to this day, Amy still says it's "the meanest thing anyone has ever done" to her.
