THE annual Savour Tasmania food festival will head to China this year, serving up the state’s premium produce directly to the burgeoning Chinese market.

Every year since 2009 the winter food festival has sold out to crowds in Hobart, Launceston and Burnie, showcasing the produce and beverages that make Tasmania a unique island provedore.

“In keeping with our plan to take Tasmania to the world, this year’s Savour Tasmania event will be held in China in conjunction with the next trade mission to be led by the Minister for State Growth Matthew Groom later this year,” Premier Will Hodgman said.

“Savour highlights our major sectors of production, from dairy to seafood and fruit, right down to the niche production markets like seeds, honey, olives, nuts and truffles.

“Now, the time is right to take this paddock-to-plate opportunity for Tasmanian producers directly to our largest trading partner in the world.”
