The summer beachside market will once again grace the shores of Sandy Bay, with more than 50 stalls.

The market aims to be family friendly, with face painting and a roving magician for kids, as well as a mix of entertainers and buskers.

Patrons are encouraged to bring a picnic rug and the family pooch.

After contentious debate, Hobart City Council voted in favour of controlled service of alcohol at the market.

Market founders Justin Davies and Matt Wise praised the council for its leadership and support.

Last year’s inaugural market attracted more than 12,000 visitors.

“Our focus will always be on Tasmanian products and services and we invest a lot of time curating the right mix of stalls,” Mr Davies said.

Chantel Crossman said the market had a great atmosphere and she loved bringing her dog, Max.

It also was a great opportunity to bring children and meet up with friends, she said.

Returning stalls include Black Mountain Smokehouse, T&B Market Kitchen, Wood-Fiery Redhead pizza, Franks cider, Sanskrit and Tickleback wines.

New stalls include Fowlers cheese, Our Little Vegan Kitchen, The Porky Duck, Nicholls Rivulet Organic Farm and T-Bone Brewing.

Handmade items will be for sale from design stalls including Millie’s Maa Soaps, Bootyfull, Twigs and Twine and Studio 154.

The market is on tonight from 3pm-7.30pm then alternate Fridays from 4pm-8.30pm thereafter.
