When Gabby Huffman found out she was having a baby, she knew that her pregnancy would be unlike any other.

She and her husband have been together for nearly a decade, and they had been planning to have a child together for years on end.

She announced the news to the world in January 2023 and continued her life as normal. But as her baby was growing, so were her lists of requirements, or what she would call a “cervix fee.”

Husband tells pregnant wife to quit her job, buys her a house as a 'push present'

“My husband told me to quit my job so I can spend all day at Target”

In a series of TikTok videos, the American mum-to-be revealed her husband told her to quit her job after learning of the pregnancy.

“...now you spend all day going on silly little Starbucks and Target runs,” she said.

She shared another clip, this time filming herself getting ready in front of the camera.

But if that wasn’t enough, he also got her a “push present” - a house.

“Baby girls’ got a house to come home to,” she captioned the video, rubbing her pregnant belly in the middle of the empty property. “Call it my cervix fee.”

“It’s important to tell your partner what you want”

In a follow-up clip, she explained that the pair had discussed at length about having a child and when the right time to try would be.

However, she clarified to him that she would only get pregnant on one condition: they would have to live in a house.

“I don’t mind living in an apartment with a baby for the first couple of months, but I really need a home for my family,” she explained. “And he agreed.”

The couple, who were both working full time, were saving for a deposit on the house. When her husband told her to quit her job after falling pregnant, he surprised her with the home.

“I just really think it’s important to tell your partner what you want, and if you guys agree to it and you have talked it out, I don’t think it’s a bad thing to expect!”

“Girl, you created a new person! That’s work too!”

The reactions to the videos were mixed, but the majority were jealous that their partner didn’t do the same for them.

“As it should be!” someone wrote. “Why is every man not like this?” asked another.

“Girl, you created a new person! That’s work too!” a supporter wrote.

“See, my ex and his mum thought I was just being materialistic when I suggested on moving out of the trailer before having a baby,” a woman commented. “It’s not materialistic at all!” Gabby responded.

Others wondered if she ever gets bored staying at home all day.

“I get bored low-key, feel like I don’t have a purpose in life,” someone wrote. “Just waiting for the baby to come.”

“First moment I thought ‘Hell yeah girl’ but then I thought to myself...I would be bored in one week… I need my work friends,” said another.
