Mum’s lunch box proves we take things a little too seriously

The 'deconstructed sandwich' raised the most eyebrows...

A Sydney mum has shared the unique way she packs her son's lunch box after she realised he didn't like sandwiches and they were coming home untouched every day.

Taking to the b.box lunchbox ideas Facebook group, she said that she's had to get "creative" to ensure he still eats a healthy, balanced lunch, so she started putting sandwich ingredients on skewers instead.

The 'deconstructed sandwich'

"I try to switch up what I put on the stick daily to keep it exciting," she explained in the post.

She then shared a photo of the lunchbox, including the "deconstructed sandwich" skewer featuring brown bread, prosciutto, salami and cucumber.

In the other compartments, the mum packed Bluey pizza shapes, an immunity shot, blueberries, apple slices and chocolate and coconut bliss balls.

She says that her method seems to be working wonders for her picky eater, as he now returns home with an empty lunchbox.

"He’ll eat the whole thing every day," she said proudly.

"Things have gone too far"

The reaction among parents has been mixed, as you've probably come to expect by now.

Many praised the creative effort, with one parent exclaiming, "Oh, this is such a great idea! I have one of those picky kids, too! I'll try this."

Another shared their own struggle, saying, "My kids also refuse to eat sandwiches - but they love toast."

However, others couldn't get past the mum's 'dangerous' choice to pack a glass bottle of the immunity shot.

"That bottle is a recipe for disaster," claimed one.

"I had a student bring in a glass bottle once; it smashed everywhere, and the liquid went everywhere," a teacher wrote.

"It doesn't matter how careful the students are, accidents do happen," chimed in another group member.

And others of course took issue with the skewered sandwich.

"What? Kids don't like sandwiches now? Bending over backwards for him isn't going to help him," one parent replied.

"Okay, things have gone too far," stated another.
