"If you can sew a button, you can do this project!"

Sharing her idea to a Kmart hacks Facebook group, mum Anna showed off her system that not only organises her child’s weekly activities but empowers her eight-year-old to take responsibility for her belongings.

“This is my school week hack,” she wrote. “We have hooks on the garage wall with each bag containing whatever she needs for the day. For example, after-school swimming gear, dancing clothes, PE gear, library books etc.

“The bags are made from pillowcases and a ribbon sewn on with a button on top.”

“If you can sew a button, you can do this project! 🧵” she adds, reassuring non-crafty mums everywhere.

So, how does the system work?

Every Sunday evening, her daughter fills all the bags with whatever she needs for the upcoming week. Then each morning, she just grabs the next one in line and she's good to go!

“It has made our mornings getting ready for school soooooo much easier!” she concludes.

You can replicate the simple system for less than $20

Group members loved Anna’s practical solution, with many saying they would give it a go themselves.

“What a great idea, going to give this a crack,” wrote one woman.

Another chimed in, “So clever,” while someone else praised, “Brilliant hack, talented mother!”

“Awesome, seems simple enough!” someone else wrote.

To replicate this yourself, you’ll need five pillowcases from Kmart, which start at $4.50 for a two-pack (or you can use ones you already have!)

Then pick up a packet of buttons ($3.70) and some assorted ribbon for $3.25.

So, for around 20 bucks, you can tackle the morning rush with this simple and effective system AND save your sanity in the process. Winning!
