Welcome to You Got This, news.com.au’s weekly fitness series featuring stories and ideas from real women who’ve experienced it all.

A mother-of-four has revealed how she lost a staggering 46kg after “hating” her body for years.

Cassie Krawczyk, from Melbourne, has lost 46kg after she reached 108kg on the scales following years of binge eating.

“I grew up with the mentality that if I didn’t eat what I wanted I was missing out. So I would eat what I wanted when I wanted,” she told news.com.au.

The 34-year-old added that she wouldn’t eat highly unhealthy foods but she would eat large quantities – for instance if she was having a chicken salad she would eat half a chicken and the salad.

Sometimes she would go back for two or three serves of a meal, and easily eat a large pizza on her own, she said.

“I hated my body. I would put on this act for people around me making it seem like I was confident. I would do stupid or funny things to make people like me because I thought that was all I was worth,” Ms Krawczyk said.

She could barely walk without getting back pain and said if she attempted running she would be out of breath easily. She knew something had to change after having her second child.

“They needed a mother who could be there for them for many years to come. Someone who could run around and enjoy life with them,” the mother said.

Ms Krawczyk had been overweight her entire life and said she had tried every diet under the sun, but found them all impossible to stick to.

She’d been following The Healthy Mummy — an online program that provides tailored health and fitness programs for busy mums — for years and enjoyed seeing the transformations on social media.

Ms Krawczyk decided to bite the bullet and sign up, and she quickly found that it worked for her.

“It’s logical. It makes sense. The diet itself is a lifestyle. It’s all about changing your diet to healthier alternatives and tracking basal metabolic rate,” she said.

“There is lots of support and being able to have workouts on hand is just an added benefit.”

Ms Krawczyk said she loved the convenience and variety in the recipes and once she learned about calories her portion sizes changed dramatically.

She also began to take part in the exercise program immediately, starting off with walking before progressing to small bursts of running.

“I would set my self a goal daily, such as saying ‘I’m going to run to that pole’. And the next day I would beat it,” she said.

“Until eventually I could run five or 10km. Then I incorporated Healthy Mummy workouts and weight training. I now train four days at the gym and one day walking or running on the treadmill at home.”

After losing 46kg and maintaining that for eight years, Ms Krawczyk said there are a handful of things she has learnt throughout the journey.

Listing some of the valuable things she had learnt along the way, Ms Krawczyk said, “I don’t have to be funny or silly to be liked and my weight does not define who I am.

“And I should have never let it define me – the scales are only a number. That there is more to weight loss and to getting healthier.”

She also joked there was a lot of skin after going through a dramatic weight loss, and that her relationship with her food had improved significantly.

“Let’s face it, I don’t know anyone who is 100 per cent happy with their body. I do have some days I don’t like it but mostly I am proud of what I have achieved,” she said.

“My body has housed four beautiful children. I have lost a massive amount of weight. I am proud of myself. I am more adventurous with clothes, which in turn leads to more confidence.”

She said for anyone in the position she was in eight years ago, change won’t happen overnight but, “Stay positive and stay strong. You will be able to do it. Just give it time and stay consistent.”
