‘I never lost faith that my body could do it again’: Jules Robinson pregnant

The MAFS alum and her husband Cam Merchant just announced they’re expecting their second baby after three years of trying to fall pregnant.

Jules Robinson shares details of health battle

It’s been three years of actively trying to fall pregnant, and Jules Robinson and Cameron Merchant have announced that Jules is pregnant with their second child.

“We’ve been trying since Ollie was one, and he is now three and a half,’ she told Stellar magazine.

“We were realistically going into 2024 thinking, ‘If it doesn’t happen, we will look at the IVF route’, but I never lost faith that my body could do this again’.”

Jules and Cam met on season six of Married At First Sight and went on to get married in November 2019. The next year, Ollie was born.

Jules said as she’s matured as a mum and learned to manage her role in the public eye, the two pregnancies have been vastly different.

“When I was pregnant the first time, I didn’t like all the attention and negativity from horrible people about my body when I was pregnant, and the terrible messages.

“They’d say, ‘I hope you have a painful miscarriage’ and horrible things like that.”

Jules Robinson and Cam Merchant expecting second child

Jules said her second pregnancy has been a more private experience.

“This time around, it has been really lovely. I can’t hide it anymore, I am popped.

“It’s been nice keeping it between family and friends and a bit more private this time.”

Jules said that while it’s fairly early days, the couple is already thinking about having more than two children.

“We want little babies running around. We’ll maybe go again if we’re lucky,” she said.

“If we have a boy, we’ll definitely be trying again for a girl, but I’ll probably end up being that mum with a little cricket team for Cam.”

Jules Robinson speaks about Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder

In 2023 Jules was diagnosed with Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder and shared on The Juggling Act podcast how the condition changed her life.

“It’s saddening the condition goes so underdiagnosed, but it’s easy to see why,” she wrote in an article for Kidspot.

This is not your standard PMS… this is not normal.

“PMDD is in a different stratosphere to PMS. I’ve even had women telling me that they’ve gone to doctors, only for them to Google what PMDD meant in front of them.”

Jules said her diagnosis came about after she had Ollie. The new mum thought she might have a bit of post-partum depression.

“But because I had on record how I was feeling from previous doctor visits, by the third time I went, they realised that this was a pattern. Then the doctor gave me a quiz and asked me lots of questions about my symptoms, and then I was diagnosed.

“I always knew I wasn’t stable around that time, and it just got worse and worse after having a baby.”
