'I just wanted to treat myself!' Aussie mum's epic rant about Cadbury Roses box

It's a classic mother's day gift, but mum Fiona couldn't help but share her (very real) thoughts after receiving her box this year.

co-parenting dilemma: Is buying a mother's day gift for his ex a bad idea?

If you haven't received a box of Cadbury Roses on Mother's Day, are you even a mother? It's the classic favourite that Aussies have been gifting for decades and has us singing the famous jingle "thank you very much" as we begin unwrapping each tiny parcel.

But one mum has found little to be thankful for this year and has gone on a public rant that has not only gone viral, but has many other mothers relating.

"A block of chocolate dressed up in Santa Claus shit!"

Cleaning industry business coach and mum, Fiona  Morris, swapped her usual small biz content this week to have a little vent about the gift that so many mothers receive on their special day.

It wasn't so much about the type of gift (who doesn't love a box of chocolates?) but the quality of the product itself, which she claims has been going downhill for some time.

"I'd like to speak directly to the head chocolate mother f**ker at Cadbury," Fiona posted on her CleanBizCoach TikTok account.

"We need to talk about modern day Roses chocolate... they're shit, okay?"

The angry mum then goes on to list a number of problems she has found with the revamped boxes, including the exclusion of the cherry ripe flavour and the absence of filling in most of the tiny chocolates.

"90 per cent of what is in this box is plain f**king chocolate. That's right, even when you're lucky enough to find something in here that is actually a flavoured chocolate, it's got no flavour," she claims, showing the camera an example of her Turkish Delight chocolate.

"Cadbury... this is literally a block of chocolate dressed up in Santa Claus shit!"

What happened to the quality?

Speaking further with Kidspot, Fiona said she went public with her views because she was sick of mother's being ripped off with a less superior product than the one we gave to our own mums.

"It’s not so much the change, it’s the quality - Cadbury have been synonymous with Mother’s Day and quality and they have stopped listening to consumers and outsourced - sending things offshore," the mum claimed.

"I bought them as a treat - actually not having my nan or my mum with me, Roses reminded me of them. They just aren’t good any more," she added.

Fiona wasn't the only one who has noticed a difference in the iconic chocolate box.

"Old skool roses were the best," one person commented.

"They’re really bad now. Cadbury chocolate literally tastes gross now and everything is so much smaller and more than double the price," another agreed.

And another questioned: "The nut with the swirl … where he at?"

There's a reason they're always half price now

Many Aussies online have been questioning when the passionfruit flavour was introduced to the classic collection, and it was also addressed by Fiona.

"I don't know when since Roses had passionfruit in it. What in the millennial changed motherf**kin new age shit is this?" she asks.

"See, you never had to put these on half price when I was a kid. They're constantly on half price because they're shit!"

With over 422K views, Fiona was surprised to see so many others relate to her video after posting on social media.

"I didn’t expect such huge response - really I was having a whinge on Mother’s Day - but big business needs to listen more to the little guy - aka us," she insisted.

"If Cadbury sees the video - we fell in love with a glass and a half and quality and you’ve been shaving that back for so long. Make Cadbury great again!"

Cadbury was contacted for comment.
