I got a 7-year infection thanks to my boyfriend’s gross habit

"I've had all these tests done. Doctors haven't been able to figure it out..." Until now.

Thing's I'd never do to treat a child with a cold/flu with Dr Sam Hay

Getting a whiff of anyone's bodily gases is bad enough, but imagine being stuck in a small room with someone after they've let one rip only to discover that it will keep haunting you seven years later.

Gross, I know. But that's what happened to a woman after an unfortunate incident with her now ex-boyfriend.

Christine, who shared her horrible experience on her TikTok account @christineexploring, revealed she got the shock of her life when she realised that years of suffering with a stuffy nose, blocked sinues and facial pain was put down to an infection she contracted after her boyfriend broke the worst smelling wind in a small space.

My ex's fart gave me a sinus infection

"Today I realised that my boyfriend got the best possible breakup revenge that anyone could ever get," the American local began to share.

"We dated like seven years ago, I've had a persistent sinus infection ever since he and I stayed in a hotel one night after I had surgery and he farted terribly, like I couldn't breathe."

Christine says the smell was so horrendous, but thanks to having ankle surgery, she wasn't able to escape the stench. The fact that he wasn't clothed and in extremely close in proximity made it even harder to escape.

"His butt was facing me and that is when the fart happened," she shared in a follow up video.

"He was not intending to fart in my face, he was just getting in bed and [her] face happened to be in the path of the fart that was released."

But that wasn't the worst part. For seven years, and perhaps since that fateful evening, the woman has suffered from a long sinus infection that she hasn't been able to heal from - and even had doctors scratching their heads.

"There's not anything that even compares to that and I got my sinus infection culture today... I've had all these tests done. Doctors haven't been able to figure it out and it is E. coli," she revealed.

How do you get E. coli?

While the doctors couldn't confirm exactly if the infection was due to her ex-boyfriend's wind, Christine said it seemed pretty obvious to her that it was from that because E. coli isn't usually found in your nose.

"Usually you don't get E. coli in your sinuses because E. coli is from poop, so like I don't know. How does that get in your sinues unless you have a boyfriend who farts disgustingly and you are forced to inhale it because you are immobile after ankle surgery..." she added.

Christine is correct in claiming that E. coli, otherwise known as Escherichia coli, isn't typically found in one's sinuses.

According to the World Health Organisation, it is a bacteria that is commonly found in the lower intestine of warm blooded organisms. While most are harmless, others can cause serious food poisoning or infection. Symptoms typically include abdominal cramps and diarrhoea.

With over 434K views on her original video, it's no surprise that Christine has gone on to share multiple videos relating to the same incident. Seems as though someone has found their, um, niche....
