Britney Spears has split with her husband of a year, Sam Asghari.

According to reports, the singer's husband has moved out of their marital home after a series of "explosive arguments" and cheating accusations.

“Sam confronted Britney over rumours she stepped out on him. We do not know if the rumour has any basis in fact, but we’re told Sam believed it and the two had a huge fight," a source close to the pair told gossip website TMZ.

The red flags appeared a long time ago

While many fans questioned their relationship, Britney appeared to be head over heels in love with Sam when they married a year ago.

But the trailer for a new documentary that dives deep into Britney's life after her father's conservatorship lifted - TMZ Investigates Britney Spears: The Price of Freedom - hints there was trouble in paradise a long time ago.

According to The Sun, the 30-second clip pointed to problems between Britney and Sam, and executive producer Harvey Levin suggests their marriage has been in “deep trouble” for months.

"Britney reportedly 'got physical' with Sam in fights and screaming matches and Sam frequently wasn’t sleeping at their home," the publication reports.

What's more, Britney and Sam were both spotted without their wedding rings back in March, hinting the cracks were forming just months after exchanging vows.

All will be revealed

Other sources close to the pair confirmed that Britney and Sam's relationship wasn't as perfect as some might've hoped.

“Britney and Sam have had ups and downs throughout their relationship. They have a lot of love for each other, but they also argue a lot over fundamental issues," a source told ET.

But silly arguments eventually became big blow-ups and then there was no turning things around.

“Recently, things took a bad turn and their arguments became more serious and real," they added.

While many rumours will no doubt do the rounds and Britney's erratic behaviour continues to make headlines, it is believed that we will get the truth from the pop star herself.

A tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey is set to take place ahead of her memoir, which will be released on October 24th.
