A cool pool area is the centrepiece of the former Chifley on South Terrace’s multimillion-dollar facelift to become Hotel Alba.
Overlooking the South Parklands, the hotel at 226 South Tce, also has a new restaurant, ela, run by executive chef Nigel Rich and head chef Ashleigh Lindner and serving Mediterranean-inspired dishes made using local produce.
With Studio Nine Architects looking after the architecture and interiors, as well as the 3D render, the hotel has 99 – standard, studio and one-bedroom apartment – guest rooms and each has its own private balcony, with either a view of the pool, parklands and CBD.
Rooms at Hotel Alba, which is member of the independent Collection by EVT, start at $209 per night.
“Adelaide is a vibrant city with a cosmopolitan spirit and the newly transformed Hotel Alba encapsulates this by bringing an urban retreat to the CBD,” independent Collection by EVT’s Brett Barlow said.
Tourism Minister Zoe Bettison will officially unveil the new-look hotel at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday.
She said the Hotel Alba project complemented a number of new hotels opening or starting construction in Adelaide since 2020, worth close to $1.2b.
“Adelaide’s suite of new and upgraded hotels, like Hotel Alba, allows us to welcome more visitors and provides flow-on benefits across the economy, supporting local jobs and boosting business in industries like hospitality and retail,” she said.
There will be Hotel Alba VIP launch events; ela is hosting one on Thursday, September 21, and there will be a grand opening party on Friday, September 22.
