Squid Game 3 is here!

Squid Game 3 is officially here, and, like millions of others, I took the initiative to binge the entire thing over the weekend. I promise, it’s not as dramatic as it sounds - it’s only six episodes!

I’m going to keep this as spoiler free as I can, but if you haven’t finished watching yet, I recommend clicking away now.

Squid Game 3 picks up right where season 2 left off, with the death of Jung-bae at the hands of The Front Man, as best friend Seong Gi-hun/Player 456 was forced to watch.

From the trailer, we knew that Gi-hun would end up back with the remaining contestants, carried back in a coffin used for fallen players.

Understandably, he’s entirely distraught, plagued by the death of his friend and other characters who followed along with his failed plans to take down the games.

But, that doesn’t stop him from needing to join the next game, which, as many fans predicted, would be a game of hide and seek - with many of our favourite characters divided between the two teams.

However, across what is an incredibly emotional two first episodes episodes (yes, I did cry multiple times. What about it?) what should have been the most gut-wrenching part is instead being completely ridiculed online - and for good reason.

“Choose your warrior”

In episode two, viewers see the birth of Player 222/Jun-hee’s baby.

We heard the baby’s cry during the last trailer for the season, so we knew that it was coming. But, what we didn’t see coming was the absolutely awful CGI.

Of course, X took this and ran with it.

“They put a CGI baby on Squid Game when there’s millions of unemployed newborns across the world,” said one person.

“Choose your warrior: Scary CGI baby in Squid Game season 3 [or] scary CGI baby in Twilight Breaking Dawn,” said another.

“The CGI baby in Squid Game is taking me the f*ck out… gurl this is crazy where was the budget to get something decent ?!?!?!” said a third.

In the least spoiler-y way possible, if you haven’t watched the series yet, the baby sticks around for more than a couple of episodes.

Is it potentially the worst part of the series? Maybe. But, that only speaks to how good the rest of it really is.
