‘Sucks’: Fury over strange stripper show at Detroit ‘Bridgerton Ball’

Attendees who paid a fortune to dance the night away at a “Bridgerton ball” were left furious by the bizarre X-rated entertainment.

Detroit 'Bridgerton Ball' turns out to be Willy Wonka, Fyre Festival-style 'scam' — with strippers and Kit Kat bars

These belles of the ball have been left furious after they were allegedly bamboozled and hoodwinked into buying expensive tickets to a Bridgerton themed event that descended into “chaos”.

The Regency Era Dance was billed as giving fans of the cult Netflix series the chance to experience a night worthy of high society, with an evening of “sophistication, grace, and historical charm…filled with music, dance, and exquisite costumes”.

But what was supposed to be a glamorous affair with ballroom dancing and a lavish feast turned out to be a “disaster”, attendees have claimed, after they were served undercooked food and received just a stripper for entertainment, the BBC reports.

Tickets to the event in the US city of Detroit, which was dubbed the “Bridgerton ball” by some excited fans, ranged between $US150-$1000 (about $200 to $1500 Australian dollars), one local outlet said.

However, many are now comparing the fiasco to Fyre Festival and the Willy Wonka Experience fail, after the reality of the event emerged on social media, the New York Post reports.

Videos of the attendees show them all dressed up in their beautiful gowns in an empty room with just a single violinist playing and, somewhat unexpectedly, a pole dancer performing.

“They hired a stripper, we were promised an instrumental performance,” one attendee shared in a TikTok video.

“No food, no drinks, not enough chairs or tables... this sucks.”

Attendees also alleged that the chicken was served raw and cups were being reused.

“We were also promised alcoholic drinks and drinks period and got NONE. They had a mini bar set up that was SELLING Kool Aid… keep in mind cheapest tickets were $100,” another posted.

One disappointed attendee that the event was described as a “Bridgerton evening” with classical music, “good dinner,” a play and a “Diamond of the season”.

“It’s heartbreaking,” she told local ABC affiliate WXYZ.

Event organiser Uncle N Me LLC released a statement to the outlet on Tuesday addressing the concerns after videos of the event went viral.

“We understand that not everyone had the experience they hoped for at our most recent event (on) Sunday night at The Harmonie Club, and for that, we sincerely apologise,” the statement read.

“Our intention was to provide a magical evening, but we recognise that organisational challenges affected the enjoyment of some guests.

“We take full responsibility and accountability for these shortcomings. Please know that we are working diligently to address all concerns to ensure that all guests have the enjoyable experience they deserve … we are committed to doing everything in our power to make this right.”

Many claimed they began to grow suspicious when the event — which took place on September 22 at Detroit’s The Harmonie Club — was postponed just three days before the original date on August 25.

The event website also raised eyebrows as it contained just basic information, according to multiple reports.

“Come enjoy our Bridgerton Themed ball with prizes, giveaways and more. You’ll also get the chance to win the ‘Diamond of The Season’,” it read.

Many are now calling for their money back after stating the ball was “nothing like we expected”.
