What is the best area to stay in Ho Chi Minh City?
District 1 is one of the best areas to stay in when visiting Ho Chi Minh City, especially if it is your first time in this vibrant city. As the name suggests, it's central to the city, and is where you'll find its main tourist attractions, including the Independence Palace and Notre Dame Cathedral.
Being central the hotels in this area are relatively and high-end, and include Hotel Majestic and Rex Hotel.
District 1 is also known as Quận 1, Quận Một, Quận Nhất and Quận Nhứt.
How many days is ideal for Ho Chi Minh?
The majority of Ho Chi Minh's attractions are central and two days is enough to get a feel of the city and to tick off its star attractions (e.g. Independence Palace, Sai Gon Central Post Office and Tao Dan Park), explore its culinary delights and try haggling at the Ben Thanh Market.
With a few more days you can pay the Cu Chi Tunnel a visit and get a history lesson at the Reunification Palace, History Museum or War Remnants Museum.
What month is best to visit Ho Chi Minh?
December through to April are the best months to visit Ho Chi Minh as it's the dry season. December is the coldest of these months which is more ideal for sightseeing. However, if you're watching your budget, visiting between February and March will see you avoid the peak holiday period while still catching those all-important sunny days.
We recommend avoiding travelling between May and November as this is monsoon season in Ho Chi Minh.
