Australia Post has responded after viral CCTV footage appeared to show a delivery driver hurling a sensitive package onto a customer’s front porch.

The clip, shared on Reddit, shows a worker walking up to the home with a parcel before casually tossing it about three metres towards the door.

He then snaps the usual delivery photo as he turns to walk away.

The customer said they were shocked at how the parcel was handled, especially as it was clearly marked “Urgent Medical Supplies”.

Adding to their frustration, the user claimed they were home when the driver arrived.

“Literally heard the chuck and crash of the box and saw this in the footage,” they wrote, sharing a photo of the damaged box.

An Australia Post spokesperson told news.com.au, “The vast majority of deliveries made by Australia Post arrive safely.

“We take customer concerns of this nature seriously and encourage this customer to contact us directly so we can investigate.”

It is understood that Australia Post drivers must knock three times and wait 30 seconds when delivering a parcel.

The national postal service uses contractors, who are expected to follow Australia Post procedures.

The clip quickly racked up dozens of comments, with users slamming the driver’s behaviour, calling it “disappointing” and “sad”.

Others described it as “petty” and pointed out that it “would have been less work to just place it on the verandah”.

Someone else joked that the worker was “exactly the type of person to not return his trolley at the supermarket”.

Meanwhile, others pointed out that boxes go through “far worse” than what was seen in the video along the delivery journey.

“Parcels go through hell during the transport and sorting stages, so that’s probably nothing in comparison, although visually it looks bad,” one person noted.

Plenty of people also defended Australia Post, saying their local delivery drivers are “great”.

“Mine comes to the door, plays with my dog and has a chat for a while,” one person admitted.

“I’m lucky enough to live in the country. Our driver tucks our parcels behind pot plants so they avoid the worst of the weather,” another shared.

It follows an Australia Post worker being sacked for faking an attempt to drop off a parcel in July.

A video, also shared on Reddit, shows an Australia Post van arriving at a property and parking outside the gates at the end of the driveway.

The man then sits inside the vehicle for a few minutes, gets out, walks through the gates without the parcel, takes a photo, and drives off.

An Australia Post spokesperson told news.com.au that the driver was dismissed following the incident.

“Australia Post has strict protocols for parcel delivery,” the company said at the time.

“These actions clearly do not align with the standards we expect, and this driver is no longer delivering for Australia Post.”

Australia Post has faced dozens of viral complaints like this throughout the year, with people reporting “fake attempts” and drivers redirecting parcels to local post offices when the recipient was home.

Previous reports have even included drivers making up reasons for undelivered items, such as blaming non-existent dogs.

A Facebook page called “Australia Post Complaints” now has over 25,000 members and is filled with stories of missed deliveries and drivers not approaching front doors.
