IT suffered months of setbacks delaying its reopening after water damage forced its closure, but final touches are this week beginning at popular Sandy Bay eatery Sisterhood in preparation for its long-awaited relaunch.
The brunch cafe, which closed unexpectedly last August when an uncapped drain was found to have caused underfloor damage, was on track for a March reopening but its relaunch was pushed back another four weeks when further water damage was found.
Store owner Yasmin Chung said while Sisterhood’s core breakfast and lunch style would remain the same, the eatery would have some new tweaks to add.
“We’re going to open for night-time trading during summer months. Unfortunately we missed out this year and we’ll have to wait until next time around,” she said.
“We’ve also made a few seasonal menu changes.”

Ms Chung said the company was last week sorting through about 150 applications after advertising for staff earlier this month.
“We’ve got about 20 staff to hire, which we’ll finalise by the end of February,” she said.
“We’re just so excited to get reopened and see all our old customers. The groundswell of support we’ve received since closing has been kind of surprising but so lovely.”
She said to mark its relaunch the business would be hosting a tattoo artist to offer customers free peach tattoos, pending council approval.
