Married At First Sight Australia bride Sara has comes clean on the cheating scandal involving her ex-boyfriend.

Married At First Sight Australia bride Sara found herself in the hot seat on breakfast radio this morning when she was grilled about the cheating scandal involving her ex-boyfriend.

The 29-year-old was outed this week for meeting up with her ex behind her on screen husband Tim’s back.

After all hell broke loose at the dinner party last week, Sara has maintained that her actions did not constitute cheating as the catch-up was nothing more than friendly.

But this morning on Nova 96.9’s Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie, co-host Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald said her behaviour could be seen as cheating by viewers given she did not tell Tim she was with her ex.

MAFS bride Sara was grilled about cheating scandal on Nova on Wednesday morning.

“I think the problem that everyone has is that you refuse to apologise … the moral question is, and I would like to ask you now, is it cheating?” he asked her.

“When we know you didn’t do anything with your ex but you went and met him with some friends that night and you didn’t do anything. That’s fine. But because you didn’t tell Tim and you did it secretly. Is that regarded as cheating?”

In a surprise backflip, Sara admitted that in hindsight she did emotionally cheat on Tim with her ex.

“It’s definitely an emotional cheat. I definitely take on board that what I did was wrong. And I think one of my major regrets was not being more apologetic and not consoling Tim right then and there,” she said on-air.

“I think in that moment, my heart came out of my a** a little and I was like, ‘Holy crap, I’m on national television. Everyone’s going to think I’m a cheater, and I didn’t cheat.’

“So I think I went into defence mode, which obviously wasn’t the best thing to do. I obviously should have just apologised straight away but I felt absolutely caught off guard.”

Sara then clarified that the ex she “cheated” with was not her ex of six years. She said it was a different ex but she did not want to confuse viewers.

Of her ex of six years, she said: “After me and him broke up for the first four years, we hooked up while he was on and off with his girlfriend,” before adding that she did not know the girlfriend “personally” but “a lot of damage has been done”.

Asked why she stayed on the show week after week despite clearly “not being into Tim”, Sara said she stuck it out because she had hope for their relationship.

“I did have glimmers of hope. Tim and I did have good moments. While you’re very right in every sense in saying that I probably wasn’t into him as much as he was into me, I did want to give the experiment a chance and I did want to hold on to hope and those little glimmers of special moments that we did have.”
