A Married At First Sight wife who proclaimed lifelong devotion to her husband despite him being the human embodiment of a pleather Amart recliner is busted scheming to date her backup groom outside the dark and dank walls of Trash Towers.
Meanwhile, a different wife is stood-up at a bar when her date pulls a no-show.
As if being on Married At First Sight isn’t already humiliating enough.

Final Test Week continues tonight. The gist of this antagonistic new challenge? All the MAFS freaks are separated into isolated suites at Trash Towers and offered a date with the rejected applicants who the experts almost matched them with.
What a tempting proposal! A date with the losers who have been left to fester in the discount bargain bin.
Who will decline the date? And who will … well, low-key cheat.
“Obviously I wanna be with Dave in the outside world, but I’m also a nosy bitch,” Jamie tells us as she tries to justify the thought of going on this date with her backup husband.
“It’s not a date,” she lies to herself. “There’s no date. It’s just to meet them. I’d like to meet them.”
Like Taylor, karma is the breeze in my boyfriend Dave’s hair on the weekend. So, when Jamie arrives at her secret rendezvous, she waits. And waits. A big glass of sav blanc is ordered.
She sips and waits and sips some more. When the glass is empty, more sav blanc is poured. The clock keeps ticking.
Finally, after several hours, a producer approaches Jamie.
“I just received a call,” they tell her. “ … He can’t make it.”
And just like that, Jamie experiences perhaps the most humiliating thing of all – she has been stood-up by an applicant who was rejected by the Married At First Sight casting department.
Even worse: What if the guy arrived, saw Jamie through the doorway and ditched before she saw him?
Jamie feels sick at the thought.
“I’ve been waiting here all day,” she fumes. “I’ve never been stood-up at a restaurant in my life. It’s actually so embarrassing that this is a televised event.”
Producers should actually do a spin-off series on 9Gem with all the dud applicants who were discarded in the bargain bin.
Meanwhile, the other couples are embarking on their own low-key cheating scandals. Awhina and Adrian both decide to meet their backup matches, and then Awhina gets annoyed that Adrian isn’t jealous. What’s the point of cheating if your boyfriend’s reaction is simply, “Meh”?
Then we check in on Ryan, who is still isolating from Jacqui in a separate suite at Trash Towers following their most recent rift.
“I think she’ll say no [to the date] because she’s hopeful and invested and doesn’t wanna lose me,” he tells us.
Producers then gleefully smash-cut to Jacqui, who’s on a date with her backup husband and bragging about her library of over 1000 nonfiction books.
Just 24-hours after proclaiming her love for Ryan, Jacqui – always the savvy businesswoman – has decided it’s important to remain open to potential investments.
“If you want to stay in touch, we should,” she whispers to her backup husband, as the cameraman lurks behind a pot plant. “If you wanna give me your number, then I can txt you. I will be out of this experiment in probably 10 days.”
While Ryan also goes on a date with his bargain bin spouse, all it does is reaffirm his desire to make things work with Jacqui. He tells her this when they reconvene at Trash Towers.
Of course, Jacqui can’t resist taunting her husband with details about how perfect her backup was.
“He was a really lovely guy and really open-minded on everything,” she says, alluding to past arguments where she has accused Ryan of being too stubborn.
Jealousy ensues. Jacqui sees it as a success.
“He’s really jealous,” she beams. “It shows that Ryan still cares about me and he still has feelings for me! So I definitely think today has been so good for the both of us!”
Then she makes a bold declaration about her date: “There was no flirting.”
That’s an interesting claim, Ms Jacqueline. We’ll be monitoring your phone’s call history for the next 10 days.
