A MAFS husband who sexually rejected his wife has issued a brutal blow that made the room wince. James Weir recaps.

A Married At First Sight husband who admits he’s not sexually attracted to his wife hesitantly offers a consolation prize that any rejected spouse would cherish: “I … don’t hate ya guts?”

What a grand sentiment.

This remark is repeated multiple times during Wednesday’s episode, leaving the experts visibly convulsing in pain. And that’s a feat. After all, they’ve seen some pretty despicable things.

Let’s cut to the chase: My boyfriend Dave has finally seen the light and is no longer attracted to my arch nemesis Jamie following her recent string of public screaming matches.

“The feelings aren’t there,” he says, following last night’s sex intervention where Jamie demanded to know why he wouldn’t sleep with her.

A producer pulls him aside and asks point-blank: “How do you feel about Jamie?”

Dave cringes.

“Oh, look …” he stumbles. “ … I don’t hate her guts.”

Nawww. Just what every gal wants to hear!

“I don’t hate Jamie,” he continues to muse. “I don’t hate her ... but I do care about her. I’m not progressing in any other feelings.”

Tonight, there’s something different about Dave. He’s cold and distant. The affection he once lavished on Jamie has disappeared. The change seems to have occurred after last week’s ugly fight between Jamie and the rest of the gang.

It seems Dave doesn’t want to be in a relationship with a high-octane drama queen. He’s looking for someone more low-key and demure. Someone like … me.

We go check on Jamie, who’s scream-crying in the bedroom.

“That’s not the Dave I was married to!” she wails. “Who is that person? He doesn’t even care! He’s not the person I know! That’s disgusting! I don’t want to spend any more time in this experiment with someone like that! He has lied to me the whole time and pretended to be someone he’s not!”

At the cocktail party later that evening, producers ensure Jamie is the first to arrive – solo – so she can rally the troops and turn the other freaks against my boyfriend Dave.

“I feel like I had real feelings for a fake relationship,” she cries while relaying the details of her sex intervention that went awry. “It’s so mean! If you didn’t have feelings for me, why didn’t you tell me?”

She feels foolish.

When Dave enters, the other husbands pull him aside. He eloquently clarifies his feelings.

“I don’t hate the girl,” he shrugs.

We cut to the experts, who are watching it all unfold on the CCTV in their lair, and they experience full-body convulsions upon hearing the bold statement.

There’s only one thing left for Jamie to do: Pick a fight with Dave over dinner.

“I feel like I trusted you with my heart and you shat on it!” she screams. “I feel like our entire relationship is a f**kin’ lie!”

Dave remains cold.

“I’m not at the level of love that you have and my feelings aren’t gradually getting bigger and bigger,” he says.

Adrian decides now is a perfect time to bring up the fact that Dave’s change of heart seems to coincide with this week’s “partner swap” challenge that saw him spending time with Veronica. The producers thoughtfully score this revelation to screeching horror music as the cameraman zooms the lens in on Jamie’s twitching face.

This is heartbreaking to watch. Thank gosh Jacqui and Ryan are here to provide an example of what a healthy relationship looks like!

“I actually think we’re a role model for the other couples,” Jacqui beams.

She doesn’t realise Ryan’s still annoyed at her suggestion that he become a househusband and give up his “legacy” in the competitive stormwater industry.

But as we all know, resentments are like mounds of crap in a blocked stormwater drain. They bubble up at the most inconvenient times.

“You insulted my finances!” Ryan snaps at Jacqui. “You insulted my career!”

Jacqui will rue the day she ever messed with the revered stormwater maven.
