Pop superstar P!nk has revealed she will undergo multiple surgeries as she made an emotional apology to fans who had tickets to recently cancelled shows on her triumphant Summer Carnival world tour.
The What About Us performer shared the excruciating physical toll of her aerial acrobatics and high-energy dancing in the concert meant she was unable to “make up” the four cancelled gigs on the American leg, which finished last week.
As she returned to “mum duties” ferrying her children Willow and Jameson to their dance and singing lessons, P!nk said she could barely walk during the tour’s final shows.
Her injuries include a torn bicep and damage to both knees.
“For the last couple of months, I have been performing with the torn bicep and two torn meniscus, both knees, my left knee. Obviously, some of you have seen the videos where I couldn’t actually walk in a show,” she said in an video posted to her social media channels.
“So I’m gonna have surgery in a week on my shoulder, and then I’m gonna have surgery in nine more weeks on my knee, and I’m gonna be the bionic woman.
“I’m gonna come back, come back stronger and harder than I’ve ever done, because that’s what I do.”
The pop star, who has literally raised the bar for concert spectaculars with her high-flying feats, said she has endured “a lot of pain for many months.”
“I’ve had a lot of cortisone coursing through my veins, you can ask my husband,” she said.
P!nk, who was a gymnast in her youth, has undergone multiple surgeries throughout her career because of injuries suffered from the nightly effort of performing via bungee cords, cables, ribbons and ropes.
She had hip surgery in 2021 and was rushed to hospital in Germany when she was dragged into a barricade due to a trapeze harness malfunction as she launched into her hit So What.
In her emotional video, she said she was already missing her tour family and thanked the almost five million fans who came to the 128 shows she played over the past 18 months.
The world tour grossed more than $1 billion and moved almost one million tickets in Australia alone, claiming the record for the highest-selling stadium tour in the country by a female artist and outselling Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour here.
The politically active artist, who supported Kamala Harris’ tilt at the US presidency, urged fans to hang on to the good vibes from the tour over the next four years.
“This was the most incredible experience, and we pushed through it, and we really did leave it all out there,” she said. “And I swear to god you guys helped me make magic in the world.
“Remember that feeling and anchor it, because the next several years are going to be really hard and really, really f...ed, but we’ve got each other.”
