Matthew Perry spotted in rare public outing

Matthew Perry has been spotted looking very different in a rare public outing, a year after he re-emerged onscreen on the Friends reunion.

Friends star Matthew Perry looks worlds away from his character Chandler Bing 18 years on from the hit sitcom.

The 52-year-old Canadian actor was seen in a rare public outing in Los Angeles on Friday, wearing a grey T-shirt and clutching a takeaway drink in Beverly Hills.

In fact, he looked so low-key passers-by may have struggled to recognise there was a multi-millionaire TV legend among them.

Perry, who last year split from his fiancee Molly Hurwitz, was reportedly accompanied by a female companion during the outing.

It comes after he announced his upcoming tell-all book called Friends, Lovers, And The Big Terrible Thing.

The actor, who has struggled with addiction in the past, has promised to tackle the big subjects in his life in the tome.

Announcing the book, Perry told fans: “So much has been written about me in the past. I thought it was time people heard from me.”

He added: “The highs were high, the lows were low. But I have lived to tell the tale, even though at times it looked like I wouldn’t.

“And it’s all in here. I apologise it’s not a pop up book.”

Perry has a net worth of about $113 million thanks to his time on Friends, a string of movies and savvy property investments.

He had banked vast profits in recent years buying and selling his beachfront Malibu home and Los Angeles penthouse apartment.

Last year he reunited with his co-stars for the long-anticipated Friends TV reunion, which streams on Binge. The six main cast all reportedly received $3.5 million each to feature in the nolstagia-driven special.

However, some fans were concerned when Perry appeared to be disoriented and slurring his words.

It was later revealed he had just undergone emergency dental work, with the show’s producer insisted he was fine.

Kevin Bright said: “What people say is what people say. I don’t have any to say about that, except it was great to see him. And I think he’s very funny on the show.”

He added: “But yes, I think he’s OK. He seems stronger and better since the last time I saw him, and excited about going forward.”
